Bio

Saigon is a one-man drum machine noisecore project created by Vincent Ceraso, based in Sewell, New Jersey, USA. Saigon was created in the late summer of 2016. The first demo was released on August 9th, 2016. Saigon started out as a much more serious noisecore project, with themes about violence, genocide, political corruption, etc. Later on, as Saigon became more and more popular, the project switched to much more satirical subject matters. The music, at first, did not include lyrics in the music - Ceraso would just scream nonsense and gibberish wildly into the microphone.

Lyrical Themes

On August 22nd, 2016, the second full-length self-titled record was released. This would be the last full record to not feature lyrics, with the exception of one song. The first song on the album "Pokemon NO, pt. II" included lyrics that satirize the popular worldwide phenomenon Pokemon. This song is also the first Saigon song to feature intelligible vocals. After this, Ceraso began incorporating satire into the songs. The themes of the newer songs range from many different topics such as politics and music/bands, for instance.

The very first album to feature lyrics in every song was "Social Satire EP," released on August 25th, 2016. The main theme of the nine-track EP was spoofing and parodying the hardcore music genre and the scene behind it, with songs such as "#MakePushPitsCoolAgain," "Poli(HARDCORE)tics," etc. According to Ceraso, this EP was "the first proper Saigon release," and quickly became the most popular album.

After "Social Satire EP," Saigon became much more technical with the music in order to properly fit lyrics into the songs. Songs became longer, slower, but still kept it very much noisecore, although some songs exhibit a much more noisegrind and traditional grindcore sound. The album "Anti-Safe Space," released on August 30th, 2016, was the third full-length Saigon record, and the first true full-length to feature lyrics. While a lot less heavy on attacking hardcore music, "Anti-Safe Space" targets PC college students and SJWs, politicians, vegans, etc. "I can't fucking stand people who are PC and/or social justice warriors. It's easy to write lyrics about them, and I'll continue to do so," Ceraso pointed out while listening to his Anal Cunt records.

Controversy

Beginning with "Politicians Suck EP," released on August 27th, 2016, Saigon was met with major controversy for the first time. The theme of the EP was to make fun of the three most popular United States presidential candidates Donald J. Trump, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. The EP, while praised by noisecore enthusiasts, was hit with negative feedback by people outside of the scene. "This project is satire, and you should probably stay away from Saigon if you can't take a joke," Ceraso stated. After this, "Anti-Safe Space" was released a few days later, with the first song "Welcome to Hell" being written as a middle finger to the people that were offended and taken back by "Politicians Suck EP." Ceraso made it his mission to write one song about Bernie Sanders for every album after as a means of provoking the Brooklyn-born Democrat's supporters.

Eventually, Vincent released the infamous full-length record "Feel the Bern and Die," a full 13-track album (three of those songs being bonuses) written as a means of making fun of Bernie Sanders and his mainly young supporters. The album was released on October 8th, 2016, and less than twenty-four hours before the second presidential debate between current candidates Trump and Clinton, and according to Vincent, this was completely intentional. "I chose this date on purpose as a way of reminding salty liberals that their favorite, deceitful politician is no longer in the presidential race," he states as he takes a sip of his wine while simultaneously trolling liberals on Facebook.
